The Miami Grand Prix: Getting to the Autodrome and Back
The circuit is in Miami Gardens, not on the beach. What race-weekend traffic is really like, and how to plan the run in and out.

The Miami Grand Prix is held in early spring at the Miami International Autodrome, built around Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens. That is a long way from South Beach, and the road between the two is the same road everyone else is using.
The distance is not the problem
It looks like a short drive on the map. On race days it is not: roads close, entrances are controlled, and the last miles to the gates are slow whatever you drive. Plan the journey as something that takes well over an hour each way, and you will not be disappointed.
Drop-off points matter more than the car
The difference between an easy day and a hard one is where you are dropped and where you are collected. Agree both in advance with your driver, based on that year's closures, and agree a fallback point in case the first is blocked. Meeting at the same place you were dropped is rarely the best idea at the end of the day.
Leaving
The hardest part is the return after the last session, when the whole crowd leaves together. Options are to leave early, to wait it out in a hospitality area if you have access to one, or to be collected at a point away from the main flow. Whichever you choose, decide before the race, not at the gate.
Groups
A party of eight rarely fits one vehicle, and splitting up at the gates is how people lose each other. Coordinating several cars so that everyone leaves and returns together is mostly a matter of one plan and one contact.
The rest of the weekend
The race is one day of three; the evenings are the other part. The same driver can take you from the circuit to dinner and on to the airport.
How we arrange it
