Planning a Day on the Water: Yacht Charters from Miami
Where boats depart, what a day charter really involves, and the logistics around it that decide whether the day runs on time.

A day on the water is the thing most people picture when they plan a trip to Miami, and the part they plan least. The boat is the easy part. The rest — getting everyone to the right marina at the right time, with the food, the drinks and the right clothes — is what decides how the day goes.
Where the day starts
Charters leave from several marinas around Biscayne Bay and Miami Beach. Your marina is set by the boat and the crew, and it is not always the one nearest your hotel or villa, so confirm it early and plan the journey rather than assuming it.
What a crewed day charter involves
- The vessel, a captain and crew, fuel for the planned route, and the safety equipment.
- A fixed number of hours and a fixed number of guests; both are set by the boat, not by preference.
- Catering, drinks and extras are usually arranged separately, and agreed in advance.
Timing
Boarding times are fixed, and a late arrival shortens the day. Build in time for the transfer, especially at weekends and on event days when the roads around the water are slow.
The ground logistics
A group of ten arriving from a villa is not one car. Timing several vehicles to the boarding, and arranging the pick-up for the return, is the part that is easiest to forget and hardest to fix on the day.
Overnight stays
Longer stays on the water are arranged on request, with the itinerary agreed in writing. The same single contact can arrange the cars and the villa around them.
