Private Driver or Rideshare in Miami: When Each One Makes Sense

Rideshare is fine for a short hop. Here is where a chauffeur-driven car is the better answer — and where it simply is not.

Private Driver or Rideshare in Miami: When Each One Makes Sense

Miami is a driving city. Distances are longer than they look, public transport does not cover most of what visitors want to do, and the bridges and causeways concentrate traffic into the same few lines. Rideshare works well for a lot of trips. It is worth being honest about the ones where it does not.

Where rideshare is fine

  • A short hop between two places on the same island.
  • A one-off trip with no schedule behind it.
  • Anything where an hour's flexibility costs nothing.

Where a private driver is better

Airport arrivals

The pick-up areas at the airports are crowded and the walk is long. A driver who is waiting where you land, with your flight tracked, turns the least pleasant part of the trip into the easiest one.

A day of several stops

Meetings, viewings, a long lunch, a dinner. Hiring the car for the half-day or the full day means no waiting for a ride at each stop, and the car is where you left it.

Evenings that end late

Rideshare is least reliable when everyone wants it at once: the end of an event, a concert, a gala. A driver waiting at an agreed point does not depend on the surge.

Groups and luggage

Several vehicles under one plan, or one larger vehicle with room for the bags, is simpler than splitting a group over several pick-ups.

What you give up

A private driver is not the cheapest way to get from A to B, and for a short, unplanned trip it is more than you need. It earns its place when the plan matters more than the minimum fare.

How we arrange it

Tell us the trip — the dates, where you are going and how many of you — and we will tell you plainly whether a car makes sense or whether a rideshare would do.
