Charter basics

What to know before chartering in Miami

A crewed charter, planned around you

Charters in Miami are crewed: a captain and crew run the boat while you decide the plan. A typical day runs from a marina on Biscayne Bay to the sandbar, Star Island and the skyline, with lunch on board and the return timed to sunset. Longer plans reach down the coast or across to the Bahamas and the Keys, subject to the vessel and the weather.

The itinerary is yours; the captain adjusts it to the sea state and the time you want to be back.

What we need to quote

Because every charter is different, we quote each one in writing. To do that we need:

  • The date or the range of dates, and whether you want a day or a weekend aboard.
  • The number of guests and the kind of day: dinner, sandbar, celebration or business.
  • The marina you prefer, or where the party is staying so we can suggest one.
  • Anything you want on board, from a chef to water toys, so the crew prepares in advance.

Getting there and back

The best marina is the one that suits your plan, and we time the cars to the boarding. A chauffeur collects the party from the villa or hotel, meets late guests and takes everyone home afterwards, so the day on the water never starts or ends with a search for a ride.

Seasons and weather

The calmest and most popular season runs through the winter and spring. Summer brings warm water and long evenings but also afternoon storms, and the Atlantic hurricane season officially runs from June to the end of November. The captain makes the final call on the day, and we agree a plan B with you in advance.
